Install Mozilla Firefox ESR

Smart View requires Mozilla Firefox ESR, or the most recent version of Firefox. Follow these steps to determine the current  version of Firefox installed, install Firefox ESR or the latest Firefox version, and enable popups.

Find the Mozilla Firefox Version

These steps  determine the Firefox version currently installed in your computer.

 Open Mozilla Firefox.

 In the upper right, click the Menu button.
 
At the bottom, click the Help button. The Help menu slides in.

 On the Help menu, click About Firefox. The About Mozilla Firefox page appears.

 If you see either of these About pages, then no further steps are required.
 
If you see another version, ensure you have a more recent version of Firefox ESR.  
 
If the Firefox ESR version is older than 52.x, .then continue with the steps below to Install Firefox ESR or Firefox Quantum ESR.

Install Mozilla Firefox ESR

These steps show how to install Mozilla Firefox ESR. Before installing, determine the current version installed on your computer using the steps above.

 

Step Action Illustration

 Copy and paste the following URL in your browser's address field:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
 
Press the Enter key.

 

 The Mozilla site displays, click the Downloads option.
 
The site may look different, so look around for a Download button, menu or screen.

 The page scrolls to the Downloads section.
 
Click the Download button under the Windows 32-bit option.
 
Additionally, users may install the latest version of Firefox to get the functionality needed for Oracle.  It is important to follow these instructions to select the settings needed once Firefox is installed.

 Click the Download button on the screen.

 When the Opening Firefox Setup page appears, click Save File.
 
The download process may take a couple of minutes.

 Click the Firefox browser's Downloads button.
 
Click the file name.

 

 Double click the Firefox Enterprise Windows 32.

 Click the Firefox Setup 69.0 file to open the Installer.
 
In the Open File - Security Warning window, click Run.

 In the Mozilla Firefox Setup window, click Standard.
 
Click Next.

 If Firefox is currently open, you see this message.
 
Click OK. This message closes.
Close all open Firefox pages. The Setup Type window reappears.

 Click Next.

 Click Finish or Upgrade.

 The Installing progress window appears.

 When the installation is complete, this page appears.
 
Click Finish. If you have the Launch Firefox now option marked, Firefox opens.
 
Continue with the steps in the next section to enable Firefox ESR popups.

Enable Firefox ESR Popups

These steps show how to  enable pop up windows for only the Oracle Cloud instances (environments). Repeat these steps each time Firefox updates are installed.

 Open Mozilla Firefox.

 In the upper right, click the Menu button.
 
Click the Options button. The Options page appears.

 For Firefox Quantum:
  • Click Privacy & Security
  • Scroll to the Permissions section
  • Check the Block the pop-up windows option.
  • Click Exceptions
  • The Allowed Sites - Pop-ups page appears.

 

For Firefox ESR:
  • Click the Content tab
  • Scroll to the Pop-ups section
  • Check the Block the pop-up windows option.
  • Click Exceptions
  • The Allowed Sites - Pop-ups page appears.

The web site address for the Oracle Cloud instance you use is shown in the Oracle Survival Guide.

  • Copy the web site address (URL) in the Survival Guide.

  • In the Address of website field, paste the URL.

  • Click Allow. The address moves to the list below.

  • Click Save Changes.

 

If you use multiple Oracle instances, repeat these steps using the other Oracle URL(s).

 

Close all Firefox pages, and restart it for the changes to take effect.
